-2020 KGSP (Korean Government Scholarship Program) student recruitment

 

1. Purpose

Global Korea Scholarship is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea for graduate-level degrees, which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.

As Korean Government Scholarship Programs have been integrated and branded as Global Korea Scholarship in 2010, the name is changed to GKS (Global Korea Scholarship).

 

2. Program Scholarship Period and Qualifications

 

[Scholarship Period]

- 3 years (Korean Language 1 year + Master course 2 years)

- 4 years (Korean Language 1 year + Doctor course 3 years)

 

[Qualifications Prospective applicants must meet the following qualification criteria]

Must be a citizen of the country to which the scholarship is offered, which also applies to the applicants' parents

Applicants must hold or must be expected to hold a Bachelor‟s, Master‟s or a Doctoral degree by August 31st, 2020.

Prospective applicants who have attained a Bachelor‟s, Master‟s, or a doctoral degree in Korea are NOT eligible to apply. (Exception: Overseas Korean Adoptees and GKS scholars)

Applicants who have previously studied in a Korean university as exchange or visiting students can apply to this program.

All applicants must have maintained the overall grade point average (CGPA) equivalent to or higher than any ONE of the following from their respective universities:

- 2.64 on a 4.0 scale;

- 2.80 on a 4.3 scale;

- 2.91 on a 4.5 scale;

- 3.23 on a 5.0 scale; or

- Score percentile: 80% or above on a 100 point scale or be ranked within the top 20% within one‟s class (Exception: Previous or current GKS scholars must hold the grade of 90% or above on a 100 point scale or be ranked within the top 10% within one‟s class)

 

3. Selection Procedures

Applicants submit the application documents to Hoseo University.

documents should arrive by Mar. 18 (wed.)

Mar. 19 ~ Mar. 26

[1st round]

Hoseo University conducts the 1st round of selection.

Evaluation and the interview on applicants will be proceeded.

Mar. 27

Hoseo University will announce the result of 1st round of selection on Hoseo University Notice board :

Mar. 30

Hoseo University forwards the application documents of the selected candidates to NIIED.

April ~ May

[2nd round]

NIIED conducts the 2nd round of selection through selection committee.

 

NIIED will announce the result of the 2nd round of selection on the GKS notice board on May. 22th :

Candidates who pass the 2nd round must submit copy of passport and the certificate of health(form) to the university by June.12

June. 26

NIIED will announce the final successful candidates on the GKS notice board.

July ~ August

University informs the scholars of their scheduled entry to Korea.

 

Scholars must check their entry flight itinerary and make preparations to enter Korea.

NOTES

 

Applicants must follow the NIIED’s regulations throughout the application procedure.

 

Applicants must write ONE university of their choice in the Forms 1, 4 and 5. Applicants must choose only ONE department (or major) in the field of natural science or engineering, as listed on the “University Information”.

 

Certificate of Graduation must get a legalization stamp from Korean Embassy in your country to prove the certificate is the authentic copy. If your country is a member of Apostille, please get Apostille Legalization on the certificate.
